Oklahoma State Settles Lawsuit Against ex-Texas Assistant

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Oklahoma State has settled a lawsuit with former assistant Joe Wickline, a move that allows Longhorns coach Charlie Strong to avoid testifying about who called plays in the Texas offense.

Oklahoma State sued Wickline in 2014 for breach-of-contract and nearly $600,000 in damages after his move to Texas. Oklahoma State said he didn’t take a job with play-calling duties as his previous contract required.

Terms of the settlement were not immediately released. Oklahoma State notified a Stillwater judge Tuesday it was dropping the lawsuit, and school attorney Sean Breen in Austin, Texas, told The Associated Press the case was settled.

The move came weeks after Wickline was fired by Texas as Strong overhauled his offensive staff.
