CS Council Decides To Hold Workshop To Increase Safety Of Pedestrians & Bicyclists

The College Station city council is interested in improving traffic safety following recent deaths of two pedestrians and a bicyclist who was struck and hospitalized last weekend.

Karl Mooney’s call for a workshop discussion received no opposition at this week’s council meeting.

Assistant city manager and former police chief Jeff Capps says it’s already been discussed by staff…and the subject also needs to include Texas A&M officials.

A&M’s student government vice president for municipal affairs Wayne Beckermann says senators have filed legislation calling for additional protection along University in Northgate.

One bill would extend a barrier in the middle of University and the other calls for lowering the speed limit.
