Announcements Ahead of Official Filing For 2016 Elections

Several locally elected officials have announced re-election bids ahead of the start of the official filing period for the 2016 elections.

Brazos County District Attorney Jarvis Parsons is seeking a second term.

Brazos County precinct one commissioner Lloyd Wassermann says he will file for a fourth term representing much of College Station’s west side and the southern part of the county.

Previously announcing their intent to run for re-election are Brazos County sheriff Chris Kirk and Brazos County state representatives John Raney and Kyle Kacal. Raney has one opponent, former College Station city councilman Jess Fields.

According to the Texas Secretary of State’s office, Saturday is the first day to file and the deadline is December 14th. This corrects a prior version of this story that indicated the first day to file was Monday, November 16.
