An attempted kidnapping in Brazos County has been foiled thanks to a confidential informant.

Sheriff Chris Kirk says two men are in jail.

41 year old Kelsey Lackey, formerly of Bryan, is awaiting trial for embezzling about $800,000 from his former employer between February 2011 and March 2013. The sheriff says Lackey was planning to kidnap his former employer and force him to give him ownership of the company and dismiss criminal charges.

Kirk says 44 year old Russell Goodwin of College Station is accused of being the one who was going to do the kidnapping. The sheriff says deputies followed their informant as he and Goodwin drove to the business. The sheriff says the vehicle was stopped in the business driveway and Goodwin was arrested.

That was followed by Lackey’s arrest.
