CSISD Tied School Board Vote May Be Untied Monday Evening

There are now up to nine votes that will be considered to break the tie for the contested seat in the College Station school board election.

Brazos County Clerk Karen McQueen says a board will consider Monday evening whether to accept or reject two military ballots and seven provisional ballots. Then the ballots that are accepted will be added.

This could break the first tie in Brazos County since the late 1980’s, when McQueen recalled a coin flip decided Mary Horn won a JP election over Greta Norton.

Reviewing the first Brazos County election using voting centers, McQueen says election day workers received positive feedback from voters.

McQueen says voter turnout was almost 12 percent, the same as the last city-school election two years ago. Almost 11 thousand voted out of nearly 92 thousand registered in Brazos County.

Turnout in Brazos County was 10,720…which is 11.68 percent of the 91,743 registered voters.

McQueen says at the last city-school election two years ago, 10,987 voted…or 11.7 percent.
