THE WOODLANDS — Coming up shy of a few key hits and routine defensive plays, the College Station baseball team is going back into the dangerous territory it survived twice last year on the way to a state championship.
The fourth-ranked Cougars were limited to seven hits and committed three errors that led to a pair of unearned runs, including the game-winner in the top of the ninth inning that lifted Tomball to a 4-3 victory in the opener of their Class 5A Region III quarterfinal series on Thursday night.
