A Bryan man who was found guilty by a Brazos County district court jury last month for beating his ex-girlfriend nearly two years ago is headed to prison.

A visiting judge pronounced sentencing Friday for 31 year old Ronald White, who received 40 years for breaking an eye socket of the victim and cutting her on the hand with a knife.

The district attorney’s office sought 50 years and White 30 years for an offense that could have resulted in a life term.

This sentence will not begin until after White completes a 15 year term burglarizing a home in 2009.

According to prosecutors, White…who is six foot four and nearly 300 pounds…said he struck and stabbed the woman in self defense. The victim is five foot three and 117 pounds.

While in jail, White assaulted another inmate, made multiple threats to detention officers, and destroyed county property.
