A privately managed and government subsidized apartment complex for low income senior residents in College Station is on its way towards its first renovation in its 40 year history.

That’s after the College Station city council at its last meeting unanimously agreed to support a more than $2 million dollar federal loan request from the owner of Oak Hill apartments on Anderson.

Community services director Debbie Eller made the staff recommendation following an outside review.

Eller said it was important to protect what’s left of College Station’s affordable housing options.

Eller also said the staff recommendation was based on an outside review.

The 49 unit complex has had the same ownership since it opened in 1980. The council was told this loan will replace one that will paid off next year.
