A Bryan police report says on Sunday night (July 13) around 10 p.m., three officers in one patrol vehicle driving on the northbound freeway frontage road in front of the Toyota and Chevrolet dealerships comes up behind a slow moving SUV with its flashers on.

The reason for the slow SUV with the flashers is because it was behind an electric scooter that turned out to be stolen from the Walmart on Briarcrest.

The driver of the scooter was arrested for felony theft and public intoxication with three prior convictions.

Online jail records shows it’s the fifth time 59 year old James Henry Taylor of Bryan has been arrested for public intoxication since February 2025 and the 39th time he’s been booked in the Brazos County jail since May of 1990.

Online court records shows Taylor was sentenced June 24, 2025 to 60 days in the county jail after pleading guilty to criminal trespassing.

As of July 15, Taylor remains jailed in lieu of bonds totaling $7,000 dollars.
