A College Station woman was arrested Wednesday on charges she injured her six year old son by striking him with an extension cord and a belt three weeks ago.
An off duty Bryan policeman working at St. Joseph’s saw the child’s aunt bring him in the emergency room with a large bleeding bump on the right side of his face.
According to the arrest report, the child also had welts on his back and legs.
The mother, 34 year old Veronica Williams, told investigators she had disciplined her son for an incident at school.
Williams said she started with a belt but changed to an extension cord because the six year old was not crying.
Child and Protective Services placed the youngster with another family member.
According to online jail records, this marks Williams 30th arrest since January 2000. Along with her arrest for injury to a child, she is also serving time for prior convictions of felony theft and driving with an invalid license.
