The Bryan fire department has made an arrest in a Labor Day weekend arson at an apartment complex.
According to the arrest report, the fire, which was set the night before Labor Day, was hot enough to melt a water supply hose in the laundry room of the Highland Villas on Wildflower.
The water that poured out of the melted hose extinguished the fire also flooded the room. The flooding wasn’t caught until the following morning.
17 year old Derrick Dervorce was arrested a week later after he was identified on surveillance video igniting a combustible material, placing it in a plastic trashcan, fanning the flames, and moving the trashcan behind a washer-dryer unit.
