SAN SABA, Texas (AP) _ Investigators say a caretaker and the retired businesswoman she worked for have been slain in Central Texas and two suspects are held.
San Saba (san SAH’-buh) County Sheriff Allen Brown said Tuesday that a man and his common-law wife are charged with murder.
Brown says the body of 86-year-old Bonnie Harkey was found Monday night buried in Leon County. The body of Karen Johnson was discovered Sunday by her 12-year-old son at the Harkey home, near
Harkeyville.
Autopsies have been ordered. Harkey owned a pecan farm.
Brown says Carl Wade Pressley and Lillian King are charged in Johnson’s death. Bond is $500,000 for Pressley. King is held on $250,000 bond. Information was not immediately available on attorneys for them.
Brown did not release more details pending a news conference Tuesday.
