Texas Rangers Investigating An Off Duty Member Of The Bryan Police Department’s Command Staff

The city of Bryan announced Tuesday evening that a member of the police department’s command staff is being investigated by the Texas Rangers.

According to a city news release, the unidentified employee was involved in alleged assaults Saturday night west of downtown on 26th Street between Sterling and Logan. Updated that the location of the incident is the Astin Mansion, which is used to host events.

The employee was off duty and not working during what BPD’s daily activity summary classified as a class “C” misdemeanor assault.

WTAW News has submitted open records requests seeking, among other things, if anyone was injured, if anyone was arrested, if any disciplinary action has been taken against the employee, and what is the person’s current employment status.

According to the statement, BPD turned the investigation over to the Texas Rangers “as a result of the initial investigation”.
