A Huntsville woman remains in the Brazos County jail on multiple charges after arriving at a Bryan emergency room with her four young children at two in the morning last Thursday. According to the Bryan police arrest report, 29 year old Kayla Oldham told ER staff at CHI-St. Joseph someone injected the children with embalming fluid and she had taken methamphetamine. All four children…ages four, three, 16 months, and three months…were medically fine. But none of them were properly secured in their car seats. The children were taken into CPS custody. And Oldham is held on bonds totaling $56,000 dollars on charges of DWI with two prior convictions and four counts of child endangerment.
Officers from College Station police, the Brazos County sheriff’s office, and DPS responded to a Sunday afternoon crash near Easterwood Airport, where the driver was arrested for DWI and resisting arrest. According to the CSPD arrest report, 26 year old Akiva Jenkins of College Station was kicking, screaming, and attempting to spit on officers. Witnesses say they saw Jenkins drive his pickup off the road and strike a light pole at Raymond Stotzer and Harvey Mitchell. Jenkins is also accused of throwing beer cans out of the truck and attempting to drive away. The sheriff’s office also received several reports of nearby hit and run collisions involving a truck matching the description of what Jenkins was driving. Jenkins was released from jail Monday after posting bonds totaling $6,000 dollars.
A DPS trooper who saw a car run a red light Sunday in Bryan at Briarcrest and the freeway led to the driver’s arrest for the second time in 15 months on an enhanced DWI charge. According to the arrest report, results of a breath test on 27 year old David Oviedo-Rios was more than twice the legal limit. Rios, who is out of jail after posting a $4,000 dollar bond, spent three months in jail last year after pleading guilty to DWI with a blood alcohol level of more than .15.
