Bryan police responding to a report of kids screaming Monday night at a home near 29th and Haswell led to a 20 year old College Station man going to jail for the 11th time in less than three years. According to the BPD arrest report, an officer smelled marijuana smoke in a parked car that was occupied by a two year old and a four year old child, a man, and a woman. After the children were given to family members, a search of the car led to the discovery of nine baggies of marijuana and two marijuana cigars. Christopher Joevon Garcia is out of jail on bond following his arrest for marijuana possession. And 22 year old Melanie Renee Cortez of Bryan is out of jail on bond following her arrest for child endangerment. She is accused of having her children in the car while the marijuana was being smoked and one of the children being in arm’s reach of a burned cigar.
One of two men accused of an armed robbery Monday night east of the federal women’s prison told Bryan police he wanted to apologize to the victim. According to the BPD arrest report, that’s what 18 year old Anthony Grays said after admitting to holding a stolen handgun in the theft of a cell phone. Grays and 17 year old Darale Lott Jr. were arrested about four blocks away from the robbery. Grays was also arrested for theft of a firearm and unlawful carrying of a weapon. No shots were fired and the cell phone was found. Lott declined to talk with officers before he was arrested.
A DPS trooper visiting with two women inside a College Station convenience store on Saturday led to their arrests and a man on multiple drug charges. According to the arrest report, the trooper was having a consentual encounter when he smelled marijuana. When the trooper detained the women and started searching them, the man walked up and started talking to one of the women. After the trooper smelled marijuana on the man, the man was searched. A backpack contained what was described as a large amount of cash. Then a search of the car led to the discovery of one pound of marijuana and more than eight pounds of THC edibles. Out of jail after posting $13,000 dollar bonds are three Waco residents, 18 year old Alyssa Lovato, 24 year old Alina Andazola, and 22 year old Jonathan Perez.
