Brazos County Commissioners Hire An Outside Legal Firm To Begin Eminent Domain Proceedings

The effort to rebuild a portion of a Brazos County road that’s been closed nearly one and a half years may be headed to court.

According to minutes from last week’s county commission meeting, an outside legal firm was hired to use eminent domain to acquire property needed to rebuild I & GN Road between Capstone and Graham.

County judge Duane Peters told WTAW News during a visit last December he was reluctant about taking legal action, while acquiring the right of way was the last thing that had to be done before seeking construction bids.

I & GN Road was closed in September of 2018 after a crack developed in the pavement along a guardrail that caused the ground behind the guardrail to drop one and a half feet.
