Army Reserve General Returns to Bryan

A Bryan native who was part of the leadership when the United States began and ended Operation Iraqi Freedom shared his experiences during a presentation at this week’s Bryan Rotary Club meeting.

Army Reserve Brigadier General Kenneth Jones and his wife Cheryl returned to Bryan two years ago following his second tour of duty in Iraq.

The general continues to make regular trips to Wichita Kansas, where he commands supply distribution for a six state region.

Biography of Brigadier General Kenneth Jones courtesy of the United States Army Reserve 451st Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) in Wichita, Kansas:

After graduating from Bryan High School in 1976, Brig. Gen. Kenneth D. Jones was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, Ordnance Corps, through the ROTC program at Texas A&M University in December 1980 and departed for Active Duty service with the 82nd Airborne Division in North Carolina.

Brig. Gen. Kenneth D. Jones and his wife Cheryl recently returned to Bryan upon retiring from Hallmark Cards in Topeka, Kansas, where they lived for 28 years. Brig. Gen. Jones remains an active member of the Texas A&M Corps of the Cadets Association, a member of the Association of Former Students, and America Legion Post 159, Bryan, Texas.

His parents, Margaret and Lowell Jones and his two brothers, David and Bruce Jones, remain active members of the Bryan/College Station community.

In his civilian capacity, Brig. Gen. Jones is a Manager in the family business Jones & Associates, Inc., an independent insurance agency that has been part of the Bryan/College Station community since 1967.

Brig. Gen. Kenneth D. Jones is the commanding general of the 451st Sustainment Command (Expeditionary)[/caption] in Wichita, Kansas covering a 6-state region throughout the Central Plains.
