The College Station school board took final action Tuesday night to hire the district’s next superintendent. Deputy Superintendent Clark Ealy was received with a standing ovation from the board and audience. Dr. Ealy begins his new position June 27. He was given a three year contract with a starting salary of $195,000 and the same benefits as other CSISD employees. Dr. Eddie Coulson, who is retiring, received a salary of $185,000 with a yearly $20,000 contribution to a supplemental retirement account.

In other business, the board approved spending $5,000 towards a natatorium feasibility study. Board President Valerie Jochen and members Jeff Harris and Kimberly McAdams expressed their support for exploring the joint project.
The board also awarded a construction contract to build what will be called Spring Creek Elementary school. The maximum budget is just under $20 million dollars.
A variety of other purchases from proceeds from the 2013 bond program were made:
Two International 4300 box trucks with lifts for a total of $153,142.00,
Bus communication hardware and GDS units for a total of $51,888.64,
Chiller coil replacement for Rock Prairie Elementary for $68,400.00,
A&M Consolidated High School band uniforms for $76,770.00, and
And district-wide video security systems for a cost not to exceed $690,618.05.
