According to a TABC news release, 28 year old Hunter Wynn of College Station was arrested on charges of having more than two and a half pounds of Xanax, and smaller amounts of cocaine, ecstasy, and Adderall.
The arrest came five days after TABC agents searched the 21 Saloon on east Highway 21, following tips that individuals were allowing narcotics at the bar.
That led to getting a search warrant for Wynn’s vehicle, where the drugs were found in two safes in the vehicle.
In addition to Wynn’s arrest, TABC has initiated administrative action against the bar. If the civil action is upheld, the bar faces a fine or temporary suspension of its liquor license. Bryan and Madisonville police assisted in the state agency’s investigation.
Wynn, who was arrested Thursday, was released from the Brazos County jail Friday after posting bonds totaling $20,000 dollars.
An investigation by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission has resulted in the arrest of a local bar manager on charges of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance.
Hunter Winburn Wynn was taken into custody May 24 following the investigation, which discovered large amounts of narcotics – including cocaine – allegedly stored within a pair of safes inside Wynn’s personal vehicle. At the time of his arrest, Wynn was working as a manager at the 21 Saloon, located at 5809 Highway 21 East in Bryan.
TABC agents initially searched the saloon on May 19 after receiving tips that individuals there were allowing narcotics onto the premises, which is a violation of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code. While conducting the inspection, agents located evidence which gave probable cause to secure a search warrant on Wynn’s vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, agents discovered more than two pounds of Xanax, along with smaller amounts of Adderall, ecstasy and cocaine.
“These types of drugs are often used as accessories at parties, and can lead to situations where the users are inhibited to the point of posing a serious public safety threat to themselves or others,” said Robert Saenz, TABC Deputy Executive Director for Enforcement. “It’s critically important that these types of drugs are kept out of TABC-licensed bars and clubs where their use can result in intoxication-related injury or death.”
If convicted, Wynn could face up to 99 years in prison as well as a fine up to $10,000. TABC has also initiated administrative action against 21 Saloon for permitting possession of drugs on the premises. If the administrative action is upheld, the business could be required to pay a civil fine or face a temporary suspension of its liquor license.
Officers from the Bryan Police Department and the Madisonville Police Department’s K-9 unit assisted with the investigation. Anyone who suspects illegal activity at a TABC-licensed alcohol retailer may contact the agency by calling 1-888-THE-TABC.
