College Station Council Divided Vote Over Naming The City’s New Community Center

What will soon be the former Arts Council building in College Station will be known as the Bob and Wanda Meyer Community Center.

That followed a 5-2 vote at the last College Station city council meeting.

Bob Brick and John Nichols supported adding the word “senior”, recognizing the Meyer’s contributing more than half the funding to renovate the building.

Jerome Rektorik and Linda Harvell were part of the majority vote that left out the word “senior” in the title.

The reference to the senior center was supported by College Station’s parks and recreation board and the senior advisory committee.
