Buckholts Police Department Shut Down By Texas Commission on Law Enforcement

The Milam County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that the Buckholts Police Department has been shuttered.

In a media release from Milam County Sheriff Mike Clore, BPD had its authority to make appointments revoked by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). This means the department has lost its legal ability to hire, or commission or place licensed personnel on its roster, thus forcing the separation of all active licensees employed by the Buckholts Police Department.

The Milam County Sheriff’s Office will assume full-time law enforcement services to the City and they assure residents that there will be no disruption of emergency law enforcement services to the community.

Buckholts is 10 miles West of Cameron, Texas. According to the 2020 Census, Buckholts has 365 residents.
