College Station Firm Receives Second National Award

If you attended the Bryan/College Station chamber of commerce economic outlook conference, you heard a shoutout given by College Station city manager Kelly Templin to a local technology company.

For the second time, Lynntech has received a national award…which resulted in a trip to Washington D.C. earlier this month for Lynntech CEO John Clanton.

Clanton received the company’s second Small Business Administration’s Tibbetts award…which recognizes companies that uses money from the SBA’s Small Business Innovation Research program to advance technological innovation and stimulate economic growth.

News release from Lynntech:

Lynntech, a College Station-based technology firm, received the United States Small Business Administration’s Tibbetts award in a ceremony last week at the White House.

Named for Roland Tibbetts, who was instrumental in developing the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, the Tibbetts Award recognizes the cream of the crop — those companies and individuals across the country that have used their SBIR funds to advance technological innovation and stimulate economic growth. Winners are selected based on the economic impact of their technological innovation and the extent to which that innovation served federal research and development needs, encouraged diverse participation, and increased the commercialization of federal research.

“I’m pleased to accept the Tibbetts award on behalf of the Lynntech team,” says Lynntech CEO, John Clanton. “The award recognizes the tireless work of our researchers and is a direct reflection of our mission to Nurture and Harvest Scientific Creativity.”

According to award committee, “Lynntech has continually leveraged Federal funding to address specific and critical challenges ranging from its Electrochemical Breathing Device for Hypoxia Training for the Navy to a sensor fusion system for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to improve the performance of infrared cameras and to identify low thermal signatures in a maritime environment (search and rescue).

Lynntech has partnered with dozens of universities, industry experts, technology experts, and private companies to facilitate innovation. The company’s research has resulted in patents and licenses that support the formation of independent businesses rooted in its technological innovations.

Lynntech’s business model centers on providing high-demand solutions, spinning off successful businesses, and continuing to innovate.”
