Women’s Golf Leads After One Round of Jim West Challenge

BOERNE, Texas- Texas A&M women’s golf team has a four-stroke lead after the first of three rounds at the Jim West Challenge at Tapatio Springs. The Aggies shot 297 (+9) on the par 72 / 6,234 yard course.

The Aggies lead second-place Missouri by four strokes, and third placed teams Texas Tech, Houston and East Carolina by six strokes.

Maddie Szeryk led the Aggies with an even-par 72, her eighth round of par-or-better in ten rounds this season. She sits in second place in the tournament, one stroke behind tournament leader Taylor Kim of Kent State.

Bianca Fabrizio shot a 73 (+1) and sits in a tie for third in the tournament. Andrea Jonama and Marijosse Navarro both shot 76 (+4), and sit in a tie for 18th in the tournament. Callie Scheffler, playing as an individual, shot a 79 (+7) and Thanya Pattamakijsakul shot an 83 (+11) to round out A&M’s participants.

The Jim West Challenge will conclude with 36 holes on Monday, starting at 8 a.m. in a shotgun format.
