October 2022 began reconstruction along William Joel Bryan Parkway from Texas Avenue to the Bryan post office east of Nash Street.
At the time construction started, the Texas department of transportation’s Bryan district office expected the project to take around one year, depending on the weather and supply chain issues.
A TxDOT spokesman confirmed to WTAW News on March 9th that the majority of the work was completed. At that time, the contractor was wrapping up landscaping, other project cleanup items, and small items that may be identified in a final TxDOT inspection.
What was in October 2022 as a $17.5 million dollar project also included medians, roundabouts, traffic signals, turnarounds, and shared use paths.
The work zone signs were replaced with new speed limit signs.
The TxDOT spokesman says similar improvements along WJB and Boonville Road between the post office and Austin’s Colony Parkway are part of the Big 6 project.
