At 2:51pm, the Wellborn Special Utility District announced a water outage along the Highway 6 frontage road to conduct an emergency water main repair.
The affected area is from Peach Creek to Peach Creek Cut Off.
Wellborn SUD expects the water to be off for approximately 6 hours (or until approximately 9:00pm).

A College Station man booked his 33rd stay at the Brazos County Jail over the weekend. College Station Police were called to the 700 block of San Pedro at on Sunday on a suspicious persons call. After approaching a vehicle in the back alley, officers say they smelled marijuana and conducted a probable cause search. 40-year-old Joshua Ray Edwards was found to be in possession of five pills that were determined to be sildenafil – the generic name for Viagra. Edwards did not have a prescription for the medication, so he was arrested for Possession of a Dangerous Drug and Possession of Marijuana. He was released on $17,000 bond. His previous arrests include charges for theft, criminal mischief, DWI, criminal trespass, and possession.
The Wickson Creek Special Utility District has implemented Emergency Stage 1 Irrigation Restrictions. Stage 1 Irrigation Restrictions have put into place due to the excessive heat and high water usage, primarily from automatic lawn sprinkler systems. Restrictions are mandatory and aim to reduce non-essential water use and encourage conservation. It helps maintain water system pressure and replenish water reserves. Please adjust your irrigation systems to meet the following requirements, so more severe restrictions are not necessary. The goal is to reduce overall water use by 15% through conservation by spreading usage across multiple days. Mandatory Restrictions: Outdoor irrigation is limited to 2 days per week (Does not apply to watering outdoor livestock) Irrigation is PROHIBITED between 5:00 AM and 9:00 PM Irrigation Schedule: Odd-Numbered Address (Ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, 9) – Sunday & Thursday Even-Numbered Address (Ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, 8) – Saturday & Wednesday Time of Day 12:00 AM – 5:00 AM Prohibited Activities: Watering lawns or landscapes on non-designated days Irrigation between 5:00 AM and 9:00 PM, regardless of the day Allowed Activities: Lawn irrigation on designated days, between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM Use of automated or handheld irrigation systems with timers Watering livestock, trees, and shrubs *Soaking house foundations (see definition below) Practicing water conservation in landscaping, cleaning, hygiene, and cooking around the home or business. *Soaking refers to slow, deep watering using: Tree watering bags Soaker hoses with a slow release For more information, visit wicksoncreek.com
On Tuesday, Brazos County Judge David Hilburn sentenced a habitual DWI offender to 25 years in prison. Jail records show that 50-year-old Nestor Richard Padron, Jr. had his first DWI charge in 1997. He has been booked into the Brazos County a total of 34 times. Padron has been in custody since June 15, 2023. On the day he was arrested, he was found to have a blood alcohol of 0.202 percent. His previous arrests include Evading Arrest, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Trespass of a Habitation, Family Violence Assault, Interference with an Emergency Call, Violation of a Protective Order, and Failure to Identify. He has previously been sentenced to prison on two occasions for Continuous Family Violence Assault and Tampering with Evidence. Assistant District Attorney Kevin Capps says, “Civilians recognized the danger the defendant posed to everyone on the road and made the right decision to call the police and protect Brazos County citizens. Our roads are made safer with the defendant off the streets.”
