The mayor and all six council members appeared.  Because it was a public hearing, none of the elected officials were allowed to respond.

A second public hearing will be held Thursday evening during the council’s regularly scheduled meeting at City Hall.

A final vote on annexing Wellborn is still scheduled for April 14th.

Earlier in the day in Austin, a House committee took testimony for and against Representative Fred Brown’s (R-Bryan) proposal to require voters to approve annexation.  The committee sent the measure, affecting only Brazos County, to the full House for consideration.
