Weekend Fire Department Activity In Bryan And College Station

Bryan firefighters responded Sunday morning to a home fire on the city’s west side that resulted in the deaths of five goats and four puppies. No residents and no firefighters were injured from the fire on Leonard Road near Jordan Loop. BFD reported passerby’s called in the fire, and firefighters found flames in the back of the home that extended into the attic. The cause is under investigation. Smoke detectors inside the home were not working.

College Station firefighters had three weekend calls. On Dartmouth Street, a grease fire was contained to the stove area. CSFD paramedics treated a resident for a burn to a hand and arm. There was no fire damage to the structure.

Sunday just before noon, smoke inside a residence on Neal Pickett Drive came from a fan motor that overheated. There was no fire and no injuries.

And someone lit a fire in a fireplace on Marion Pugh while the flue damper was closed. While the resident used an extinguisher, the fire log smoldered and smoke filled the apartment. Firefighters removed the smoke and checked the operation of the damper. There as no fire damage and no injuries.
