Weekend DWI Arrests Include One Person Caught Twice In As Many Days & Another Person Involved In Collisions With Multiple Parked Vehicles

A Bryan man arrested Friday and Saturday night on drunk driving charges is also awaiting trials in two other DWI cases. Friday night, according to the Bryan police arrest report, an officer stopped a pickup he saw swerving on Tabor Road. The driver, 50 year old Filiberto Alvarado-Gomez, agreed to breath alcohol tests. He was arrested after the tests measured more than one and half times the legal limit at .138 and .150. Alvarado-Gomez was released from jail Saturday after posting bond. That evening, 9-1-1 received a call from a witness who reported seeing a pickup swerving on Carson near South College. The witness followed the truck as it continued to swerve on Finfeather and West Villa Maria. The truck stopped for a BPD officer in the parking lot of a convenience store at Villa Maria and Harvey Mitchell. According to the arrest report, Alvarado-Gomez was arrested for another DWI after failing field sobriety tests. Then he was taken to the hospital for a blood alcohol test. According to online court records, Alvarado-Gomez is awaiting trials following DWI arrests that took place last month and January 2017. And he is awaiting trial on a felony charge of family violence assault and a misdemeanor of violating a protection order following an arrest in May of 2018. Alvarado-Gomez is in jail on bonds totaling $50,000 dollars.

Four parked cars in downtown Bryan were struck by a pickup after the bars closed early Saturday morning. Bryan police report the vehicles that were struck were parked along Main Street near 28th. 22 year old Brisson Ragston of Brenham is out of jail after posting a $3,000 dollar bond following his arrest for DWI.

Friday night, a College Station police officer spotted a car parked on the shoulder of Harvey Mitchell Parkway with its hazard lights on. After the officer pulled over to check if the driver needed assistance, the officer saw the man in his driver’s seat urinating into a cup. According to the arrest report, the driver told the officer he had to go. The officer smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath, and the driver told the officer he should not have been driving. That contributed to the DWI arrest of 48 year old Ruben Lee of College Station, who is out of jail after posting a $2,000 dollar bond.
