Weather Causes Power Outage for Thousands in College Station

Thousands of College Station residents were without power for an hour and a half on Wednesday morning.

According to a news release from the City of College Station, a 138kV tie switch at the Southwood Valley Substation appears to have been struck by lightning just after 6:20 a.m. causing it to lose power.

The substation serves 8,770 customers.
