Water Usage Rising With Thermometer

Combine triple digit temperatures to start August and just over one inch of rain during July to see an increase in water consumption.

In College Station, Water Resource Coordinator Jennifer Nations says customers used 11.5 million gallons last Thursday. That went up to 16.5 million gallons on Sunday. However, that’s not the top usage in College Station this summer. That was on Friday, July 23rd, when consumption was 17.3 million gallons. All these numbers are well under the 29 million gallons a day that can be generated in College Station.

In Bryan, Water Services Director Jayson Barfknecht says the highest usage of the summer was Sunday with over 18.5 million gallons. There was one other day when consumption in Bryan was over 18 million, and that was July 16th. Again, daily consumption is well below the 30 million gallons that can be generated in Bryan.
