TxDOT Holding Public Meetings to Discuss Possible Routes for Interstate 14 and Loop 214

TxDOT will be hosting six community meetings to discuss the routes of Interstate 14 (I-14) and Loop 214 (I-214) through our part of the state. The Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act of 2015 authorized Interstate 14 system across Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. The new interstate system will enhance connectivity in the southern United States and improve mobility between urban and rural population centers, military installations, maritime ports, and economic sectors including energy, freight, timber and agriculture. The Central Texas Corridor includes United States Highway 190 from Interstate 10 near Iraan to State Highway (SH) 63 in Jasper to the Sabine River Bridge at the Texas-Louisiana border. The road will be upgraded to interstate standards and ultimately designated as I-14. I-214 will be a loop around Bryan-College Station. The meetings will discuss the approximately 125-miles of roadway from just east of Temple to Huntsville. They are an informal, come-and-go format, featuring maps and displays. Steve Fullhart, the District Public Engagement Specialist for TxDOT, told WTAW that visitors will be able to provide a specific address to see where that land is located in relation to proposed roadway options. They want to know where you do want the roadway to go, where you don’t want it to go, and provide any other feedback that will be helpful for the upcoming portions of the study. All meetings will be identical, so you will be able to experience the same information at any session you choose to attend. Bryan City Council to Vote on Adding Ballot Measure to Remove Texas Avenue Medians

One of the subjects on tonight’s agenda for the Bryan City Council: Medians. They’ll vote on whether or not to adopt an ordinance ordering a Special Charter Amendment Election to be held jointly with Brazos County on November 3, 2026. The proposed ordinance reads: “the medians on Texas Avenue, Bryan, TX shall be removed from the intersection of Texas Avenue and Rosemary Drive to approximately 600 feet south of the intersection of Texas Avenue and State Highway 21. This Charter Amendment was requested by a petition of the active voters of the City of Bryan as presented to the City Secretary and certified by the City Secretary.” The meeting starts at 5:30pm at Bryan City Hall.
