From Bryan ISD:
Bryan ISD is presenting two calendar options for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year, and the district is seeking input from parents, students, staff and the community.
New this year is a mandate from the Texas Legislature’s House Bill (HB) 2610, which requires districts to provide at least 75,600 minutes of instruction, including intermissions and recess. In the past, schools were required to provide 180 days of instruction, but the number of minutes that students receive instruction was not mandated across the board.
The change in law requires the district to make adjustments to some school start and/or end times to avoid extending the school year further into the summer.
Online at www.bryanisd.org, you’ll be able to view each calendar option (Option A & Option B) along with that option’s tentative start/end times and select the version you prefer. Please give us your input by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9.
