College Station Police following a pickup parked at a vacant hotel arrested the driver for DWI.

44 year old Shane Reilly of Seabrook, who told police he was in town for fire school, has five prior drunk driving convictions.

During the midnight hour on Thursday two officers were on foot patrol at the former Aggieland Inn, securing the area noted for thefts of copper and other metals and a hangout for the homeless and drug users.

At the rear of the property the officers spotted Reilly’s pickup. After eye contact was made, Reilly drove away. Officers followed the truck from Texas to Holleman, where Reilly did not signal to make a right turn.

Reilly stopped in the HEB parking lot and told police he was headed to the Sheraton, which is located across Texas from the Aggieland Inn. Police arrested Reilly after seeing an open can of beer in the truck console and failing one sobriety test.

The arrest report noted Reilly has prior DWI convictions three times in Harris County and once in Brazoria and Galveston counties.

Reilly was released from the Brazos County Jail after posting an $8,000 bond.
