The Houston Astros have finalized a one-year, $25 million deal with ace Justin Verlander, nearly a month after it was agreed to.
While the deal was reported before the collective bargaining agreement expired Dec. 1 and a signing freeze began, Major League Baseball and the players’ association didn’t approve it until this week.
A two-time Cy Young Award winner, Verlander has pitched in only one game since 2020 because of an elbow injury.
