Updating RELLIS Construction And Class Offerings

Four new buildings on the Texas A&M system’s RELLIS campus are in various stages of construction.

Last week was the ceremonial topping out of the Texas A&M Transportation Institute’s new headquarters. That marks the last piece of steel to be placed in the $70 million dollar structure. RELLIS director John Barton says that will open a year from now, bringing in 700 employees who have been scattered at various sites.

Barton says they are in the process of moving into the system’s $75 million dollar research Center for Infrastructure Renewal. A grand opening is planned for March.

Also in March, Barton says there will be a groundbreaking for the system’s academic alliance building, which will be home to programs offered by a variety of system universities. That will be built across the street from Blinn College’s new academic building, which is scheduled to open this August.
