Texas A&M’s president declares “the queen is back!”

Mark Welsh posted on his website Friday (August 8) that the pathology report on Reveille X following eye surgery last month shows tissue that was removed is benign.

Welsh says the first lady of Aggieland “has been recovering remarkably well” and has resumed her schedule of “eat, play, (and) rule-the-world”.

Reveille X will resume her duties later this fall.

Original story, July 23, 2025:

Texas A&M’s first lady of Aggieland, Reveille X, is recovering from eye surgery.

President Mark Welsh posted on his website that she was diagnosed with glaucoma and her right eye was removed after it was discovered during surgery there were signs of abnormal tissue.

Following standard practice, the tissue was sent to an ocular pathologist for evaluation. The results of that evaluation was not disclosed.

Welsh wrote that “Miss Rev has come through the surgery successfully, has been discharged and is resting comfortably.”

Welsh also said “According to her veterinary team, we can expect Miss Rev to be back to enjoying all her favorite activities — cruising on Rev Force One, attending classes, cheering on the Aggies and keeping our campus squirrels in line — this fall.”

The president said the surgery followed a recent checkup after Reveille X’s mascot corporals from the Corps of Cadets noticed she was experiencing some discomfort and cloudiness in her right eye.

The surgery was done by Dr. Sean Collins at A&M’s veterinary medical college.

He told WTAW News that the benefit to Miss Rev is not being in pain because she did not have functional vision in that eye before it was removed.

Reveille X has been serving Texas A&M since April of 2021.
