College Station Man Arrested for Public Intoxication

A College Station man goes to jail for the 13th time in four years on a public intoxication charge. According to the Bryan police arrest report, an officer responded to Sul Ross Park on Tuesday evening around 7 p.m. for a man that was passed out near a park bench. After waking the man up, the officer determined 50 year-old Brent Himel was intoxicated due to his slurred speech, unstable movements and glassy eyes. Himel was arrested for active warrants and charged with public intoxication with three prior convictions.

Bryan Man and Woman Arrested on Multiple Drug Charges

A Bryan man and woman are in jail on multiple charges after Bryan police found various drugs, drug paraphernalia, and firearms in their home on Tuesday. According to the BPD arrest reports, officers executing a search of the home on Beck Street, near the Brazos Valley Boys and Girls Club, found cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamines, alprazolam and promethazine with codeine. A working digital scale and plastic baggies used for drug sales were also found, along with five firearms. Filomena Gomez, 26 of Bryan, is held in lieu of bonds totaling $137,000. According to online jail records, she was arrested earlier this month on a theft charge. In addition to the drug charges, Matthew Hayhurst, 30 of Bryan, was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. He is held in lieu of bonds totaling more than $255,000.

Bryan City Council Approves Purchase of New Ambulances

The Bryan City Council approved the purchase of four new ambulances at this week’s council meeting. Councilman Jared Salvato says the purchase was approved in the 2022 budget, but was delayed due to supply chain issues. “They like to keep them at about 90,000 miles or less. Some of ours have upwards of 160,000 miles,” says Salvato. The ambulances are two feet longer, allowing equipment to be more efficiently stored. The total cost of the new, fully equipped ambulances is $1,713,174.72. Salvato hopes to replace the old ambulances by the end of the year.
