UPDATE: Bryan Police Announce Accidental Gunfire Resulted In Minor Injuries To Two Officers

Bryan police has released more information about their report of two officers who were shot Wednesday night due to accidental gunfire

BPD tells WTAW News members of the tactical response team returned to headquarters from training and officers were dismantling weapons to clean them.

That’s when an undisclosed number of shots were discharged from one of the handguns.

The officers who sustained what BPD described was minor wounds were treated and released at a local hospital.

The Bryan police department announced that an accidental discharge of a weapon Wednesday night led to two officers going to the hospital for treatment of minor wounds.

The only other information that was released, was the incident involved BPD’s tactical response team, and neither officer was admitted to the hospital.

News release from Bryan police:

On Wednesday evening, the Bryan Police Department Tactical Response Team (TRT) had an incident involving an accidental discharge of a weapon. Two officers received minor wounds. Both officers were treated and released from CHI St. Joseph Hospital.

Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of the officers involved and the department as a whole. An administrative review of policies, procedures, and training will take place to determine what we can do to ensure that similar incidents never occur.
