UPDATE: Bryan Council Cancels Special Meeting About Blinn Legislation

Update noon Tuesday:

The special meeting has been cancelled, according to a city spokeswoman, due to a conflict that was not explained.

Original story:

The Bryan city council has scheduled a special meeting Thursday morning to consider endorsing state legislation regarding Blinn College.

The council will decide whether to back state representative John Raney’s House Bill 1903, calling for revenue generated on the Bryan campus to be spent in Bryan.

The council will also take up legislation that would appoint two Brazos County residents to the Blinn board. Raney wrote House Bill 2621, while Senate Bill 2042 was written by the senator representing Bryan, Charles Schwertner, and the senator representing Brenham, Lois Kolkhorst.

Thursday’s council meeting begins at 11:00 a.m. in room 305 at Bryan City Hall.
