UPDATE: Bryan City Council Approves Bombers Ballpark Improvements

Update:

The Bryan city council on a unanimous vote Tuesday approved $464,000 of improvements at the home field of the Brazos Valley Bombers baseball team.

There was no council discussion preceding the motion to approve and vote. The council heard from six people during public comments who supported the improvements, which will also benefit youth baseball that play at the city-owned Travis Field, which is also known during Bombers games as Cellucor Field and Nutrabolt Stadium.

Original story:

Tuesday’s Bryan city council agenda includes a proposal to improve the home of the Brazos Valley Bombers baseball team.

This is after Bombers owner Uri Geva made a presentation to the council a month ago. Geva says the team has invested almost $1 million dollars over the last ten years at Nutrabolt Stadium and Cellucor Field.

Tuesday’s request calls for the city spending $464,000 dollars, with the Bombers reimbursing the city $139,000 over a five year period.

This would take care of everything requested during Geva’s presentation, including new bleachers, replacing the outfield fence and light bulbs, a new irrigation system, and a video scoreboard.
