Two Power Outages In South College Station On Thursday

Two men are jailed after a drug bust in Bryan on Wednesday. Bryan Police conducted surveillance on suspected cocaine sales in the 1300 block of Moon Street. Officers say they observed men repeatedly walking between a fence and vehicles as they briefly stopped at the address. The men were identified as 68-year old Bobby Ray Perry and 38-year-old Quentin Lelavr McMiller. A bag discovered at the fence contained 7.4 grams of white powder and 0.15 grams of rock cocaine. Perry was found to have 20.29 grams of crack cocaine inside his car and was arrested for Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (4G – 200G). He is being held on $50,000 bond and it was his 17th time at the Brazos County Jail. McMiller had 1.67 grams of crack cocaine and 10.20 grams of marijuana on his person. He was charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (1G – 4G) and Possession of Marijuana less than 2 ounces. He is being held on $50,000 bond and it was his 29th booking into the Brazos County Jail. To honor their memory, the campus will be darkened at 10:20 p.m. Students, family and friends will gather in the plaza in front of the Academic Building in silence. At 10:30 p.m., an honor guard from the Ross Volunteer Company will march slowly to the plaza where its members will fire three rifle volleys. Those who wish to send condolences to the families may send an email to silvertaps@tamutraditions.net, or drop a letter in one of four memorial boxes located in Academic Plaza, the Memorial Student Center 12th Man Hall, on the Quad or in front of the West Campus Dining Facility. To help maintain the tranquility of the event, those living on campus should cover windows, keep noise to a minimum and walk to and from the ceremony without talking. Silver Taps is held on the first Tuesday of each month, September through April, if necessary, following a student’s death. It is one of the final tributes held for any current professional, graduate or undergraduate student who has died during the year.

Joint Press Release from the Cities of Bryan and College Station (08/26/2026): After a relatively mild start to the summer, water use across the Bryan and College Station water systems has increased rapidly due to recent triple-digit temperatures. When water demand approaches a system’s production capacity, it becomes difficult for water towers to maintain adequate levels. At a high level of demand, little room for error exists in the event of a water line break, large fire, equipment malfunction or other unexpected event. While water-use restrictions are not currently in place in Bryan or College Station, residents are encouraged to take the following steps now to reduce water use and help ensure that an adequate supply remains available for essential needs: Limit outdoor watering to twice per week. Avoid watering during the daytime. Water lost to evaporation is significantly higher during the hottest part of the day. Check sprinkler systems for leaks and make sure sprinklers are watering vegetation rather than sidewalks, driveways, or streets. Report suspected water leaks: Bryan: Contact the Public Works Call Center at 979-209-5900, Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. For after-hours emergencies, call 979-822-3777. College Station: Contact Utility Dispatch at 855-528-4278 or use the convenient SeeClickFix app. Follow weekly irrigation recommendations from BVWaterSmart.org. BVWaterSmart recommends irrigating two days per week when rainfall has not occurred. Turn off your sprinklers when rain occurs. Even a small amount of rainfall may provide enough moisture to delay your next irrigation cycle. Drought contingency plans and defined irrigation schedules are important tools water utilities use to protect essential water supplies for fire protection and public health. By conserving water now and following recommended irrigation practices, our community can help maintain adequate water supplies and potentially avoid the need for mandatory water-use restrictions.
