Some BTU customers in north Bryan were hit with two power outages this Tuesday morning (June 2).
The first affected 7,000 customers and the second impacted 2,800.
A BTU spokeswoman tells WTAW News that the first outage was caused by an equipment failure at a substation near Kemp-Carver elementary school.
The second outage happened at another substation that was used to help with the first outage.
A Bedias man is in the Brazos County jail for the second time this year for illegal possession of personal identity documents. A College Station police arrest report says on January 3rd and 4th, 37 year old Joseph Samuel Hall was in possession of 50 items belonging to 18 victims. The 50 items included credit cards, debit cards, gift cards, and a drivers license. Officers also seized 14 cards that did not have a name. The 64 cards were recovered following a traffic stop by an officer who saw a vehicle with an expired registration. Hall, who is in jail for the 18th time since September of 2006, is held in lieu of bonds totaling $26,000 dollars from the May 3rd arrest as well as similar charges from an arrest on February 14th.

More organizational changes at Texas A&M have been announced by new president Susan Ballabina. The May 27th message on Ballabina’s website includes A&M’s chief operating officer Peter Lange now being responsible for coordinating operations in Fort Worth, McAllen, and Washington D.C. Being moved from A&M’s operations responsibilities is information technology, which will now fall under the university’s business services department. Ballabina also says efforts at the health science center and Galveston campus continue to support operational alignment with the main campus. And the health science center is now the focus of a 60 day comprehensive review which Ballabina says is to find ways to elevate health related programs across the university. In late June, she will hold her first meeting with a newly formed senior leadership group. This includes her cabinet, A&M’s deans, affiliate CEO’s, chief operating officers at A&M’s remote locations, and the chairs of the university’s staff council and faculty advisory council.
