No one was injured during two unrelated house fires in College Station over the weekend.
Information Officer Bart Humphreys says a garage caught fire Friday evening at a home on Marta Street near Edelweiss Estates.
Humphreys says the homeowner was preparing food for a large party and was using a propane cooker in the garage, causing some plywood-like material that had been set up as a grease guard to catch on fire.
He says to use grills outside at least three feet away from any flammable material.
Then, Sunday evening in the area behind city hall, an electrical problem caught the inside of a wall on fire on Foster Avenue.
Humphreys says any exterior outlets should be rated for exterior use, and they need to be on a ground fault circuit interrupter, or G.F.C.I. circuit.
No one was injured, but the power had to be cut and there was minor smoke damage.
