Two Drivers Killed In Crash That Closes Highway 6 Between Bryan And Hearne

Two drivers died Friday afternoon following a head on crash that closed Highway 6 between Bryan and Hearne for nearly five hours.

DPS Sgt. Jimmy Morgan says when the driver of a southbound SUV swerved to avoid rear ending a semi, he went into the northbound lanes.

The SUV struck an oncoming pickup truck.

The driver of the SUV was identified as 19 year old Nicholas King of Woodway.

The driver of the pickup was identified as 50 year old Malcolm Carlson of Georgetown.

Sgt. Morgan said the crash was reported Friday at 3 p.m., and the highway reopened shortly before 8 p.m.

Two drivers died Friday afternoon following a crash that closed Highway 6 between Bryan and Hearne for more than four hours.

DPS reports the collision took place around 3 p.m. at the curve intersecting Highway 6 and the Old Bryan Highway.

The DPS detour route was using Highway 21, FM 50, and Highway 79.

The TxDOT Bryan district office was directing traffic to FM 2818, FM 1687, FM 50 and Highway 79.

TxDOT reported Highway 6 was reopened shortly before 7:30 p.m.
