Two Crashes Lead To Two Arrests Of Drivers For DWI With Two Prior Convictions

College Station and Bryan police reported major crashes the Thursday before Christmas resulted in the arrests of the drivers for DWI with two prior convictions.

College Station police responded to a SUV that crashed into the ditch on Wellborn Road next to the railroad tracks near South Dowling. According to the arrest report, officers found bottles of alcoholic beverages inside the SUV…several that were sealed, several that were open, and several that were empty. After interviewing the driver and conducting sobriety tests, 60 year old Kim Dunbar of College Station was arrested. According to online court records, she was out on bond from another DWI arrest by a Brazos County sheriff’s deputy on November 7.

In Bryan, police responded to a two vehicle crash at Highway 21 and Sims. According to the arrest report, a firefighter reported smelling alcohol on one of the drivers. An officer who interviewed the driver in the emergency room reported he failed sobriety tests. When police asked 53 year old Henry Matias Garcia to give a blood sample, he said he wanted to give a sample of his breath. Garcia was transported to jail but was unable to provide a breath sample. That led police to get a court order for a blood sample. That resulted in police taking Garcia back to the hospital for the blood sample and returning to jail. According to online records, it’s the 24th time Garcia been booked in the Brazos County jail in 31 years…and his first since 2013.
