Motorists going in and out of downtown Bryan Monday afternoon are having a tougher time getting around due to a train stopped after it clipped a pickup.
Information courtesy of the Bryan Police Department:
On May 5, 2014 at 4:15 p.m. officers responded to a Train/Auto Collision at Dodge and Finfeather.
Preliminary reports state that a pickup truck was traveling westbound in the 300 block of Dodge. The vehicle was stopped behind other vehicles at the tracks when the train started its approach.
The railroad crossing arms came down and rested on the cab of the truck. The driver of the truck made a U-turn on the tracks and stopped. Then the train clipped the back end of the truck.
The driver of the truck was transported to St. Joseph Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Union Pacific railroad is conducting their own investigation and the train is currently stopped on the tracks and could potentially be there for several hours.
The affected railroad crossings are between Dodge Ave and Graham Rd. Suggested crossing are Carson and 28th Street at State Hwy 21.
