While the search continues for two men who ran from a DPS traffic stop Wednesday morning near Millican, the driver who was stopped was arrested for stealing a trailer loaded with equipment owned by Leon County.
According to the DPS arrest report, 34 year old Kenneth Deshaun Gordon of Houston was driving a pickup pulling a trailer…getting on Highway 6 from FM 2154…and would not pass a trooper going 50 miles per hour.
When the trooper slowed to 40, the truck went around.
Then the officer…a DPS motor vehicle theft investigator…learned the tag on the trailer belonged to Leon County. He did the traffic stop after suspecting the trailer and equipment were stolen.
After stopping the truck, Gordon told the trooper he did not have a driver’s license and the trailer and equipment belonged to his uncle from Bryan.
A check with the Leon County sheriff’s office revealed the theft from the precinct three shop on Highway 79 of the single axle trailer, containing welding equipment, power washers, a compressor, and miscellaneous tools.
The total value of the recovered property is more than $8,000 dollars.
Gordon was arrested for theft and possession of methamphetamine. As of Friday morning, Gordon was in the Brazos County jail in lieu of a $10,000 dollar bond.
