Traffic around Texas A&M University will become a little more dicey starting Monday morning. TxDOT has announced various ramp and lane closures at the intersection of University and Wellborn. Construction will take place through much of the winter. Campus parking will also be affected.

On Monday, November 7, 2011, beginning at 8:30 a.m., the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) contractor will begin construction work with a series of ramp/lane closures on the FM 60 Project between FM 2154 and Lodge Street. The first closure will be the eastbound FM 60 exit ramp to FM 2154. The second closure will be the southbound FM 2154 left turn bay for eastbound FM 60 traffic. The last closure will be the northbound FM 2154 outside lane from Old Main to FM 60. By closing these sections of road, the contractor can install concrete pavement for an improved connection between FM 60 and FM 2154. A detour will be in place for eastbound FM 60 traffic wanting to get to FM 2154. The ramp is expected to reopen by December 16, 2011, for access to FM 60 eastbound only. This opening will signify the start of the next phase of construction and the closure of other ramps in the area.

The alternate route for customers parking in Lots 20, 27, 28, 30, 42 and 77 should exit campus via Old Main Drive. Vehicles may continue to enter campus via the road between Lots 30d and e.
