Town Hall on Senior Citizens’ Concerns

Local seniors are invited to a town hall meeting on senior citizens’ concerns and issues.

Ronnie Gibson, program manager for the Area Agency on Aging, says seniors will have the opportunity to speak freely in small groups with a scribe taking notes.

“It is real intimate where they will be able to discuss right at their table, and we will not have any limits on what they discuss,” said Gibson.

Gibson says the agency will take those notes and present them to the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature.

“Silver-Haired Legislature can hopefully can develop some issues and present those to our state legislature so that laws and policies can be developed to address those concerns and issues of our seniors,” said Gibson.

The town hall meeting is Wednesday, February 14th at the Brazos Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendors will be on site and several speakers will also present seniors with information before small group discussion begins. Lunch will be provided.

Volunteers are still needed to scribe and facilitate the event.
