COCKRELL HILL, Texas (AP) _ Officials say three people died in a Cockrell Hill apartment fire.
Fire Marshal Robert de los Santos says investigators are still looking for the cause of Saturday’s fire in the town just southwest of Dallas.
Officials say the third victim’s body was discovered Sunday evening after family members called police that afternoon to report that a man was still missing after the fire. The victims have not yet been identified.
Cockrell Hill Fire Chief Michael Burns tells The Dallas Morning News the apartments predated fire safety codes requiring sprinkler systems, fire alarms and fire-resistant walls between apartments.
Crews demolished the apartments Saturday. About 130 people were displaced by the fire.
